| Jack
and Rod Laird (brothers) started Fox Home Center back in
1962. In fact, this year marks the 50th Anniversary for
Fox. Jack and Rod began their careers
back in the early 50's working in a lumber yard in the
upper peninsula of Michigan, and then later working for
their uncle for 7 years in the Chicago-land area. They
often discussed starting their own business and finally
in 1962 they made the move to begin what is now known as
Fox Home Center.
The original store
was literally built from the ground up. The current
location at 11150 South Cicero Avenue in Alsip Illinois
60803 was just a swamp at the time. Jack and Rod
couldn't afford a building or employees so they started
the business themselves and worked out of a trailer. As
years progressed they were able to build a small
building and would continue to add on to the building as
the business began to grow. |

After
a fire destroyed the original building in 2007, the
dedicated staff worked out of a construction trailer for
the 18 months we took to rebuild. Many of those
employees have been with the company for 20-30 years. We
will never forget (or be able to thank) our loyal
customers and friends who helped us survive during that
difficult time.

Our new facility
allows us to showcase the products supplied by our
vendors, who also supported us during the rebuild.
A little off-humor
joke often goes around the store that after the
"fire" Fox came back "Hotter Than
Ever!" We now offer a HUGE selection of "Quality
Products that Come at Affordable Prices." People
travel from all over Chicago-land and Northwest Indiana
to visit our Designer Kitchen and Bath Showroom. Come
and Celebrate our 50th Year Anniversary with us and
check out our newly remodeled showroom in the process! |
